Experience Revolutionary History on Bald Head Island
Join the Old Baldy Foundation and the North Carolina 4th of July Festival this Labor Day weekend as we commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Fort George with a special weekend of living history, family activities, and commemorative events on Bald Head Island.
Witness History Come to Life
The centerpiece of the weekend will be two live reenactments of the Battle of Fort George. Presented in partnership with North Carolina State Historic Sites, these programs will bring the events of September 1776 to life on the grounds of Old Baldy.
Throughout the day, visitors can explore a living-history encampment featuring portrayals of North Carolina Continental troops and British forces. Reenactors will demonstrate military drills, camp life, equipment, and the daily experiences of those who lived through the American Revolution.
Whether you're a history enthusiast, a family looking for an educational adventure, or simply curious about Bald Head Island's unique role in our nation's story, the reenactments offer a memorable opportunity to step back in time and experience history firsthand.
A Weekend of Commemoration
In addition to the battle reenactments, guests can enjoy opportunities to interact with historians, learn about Revolutionary-era life, and participate in family-friendly activities celebrating America's 250th anniversary.
The weekend will also include a special fundraising dinner and celebration supporting the mission of the Old Baldy Foundation. Guests can look forward to an evening of great food and beverages, music, and opportunities to connect with fellow history enthusiasts and supporters. The celebration will also feature both silent and live auction experiences, helping raise funds to preserve and share the history of Bald Head Island for future generations. Additional details, ticket information, and event announcements will be shared as plans are finalized.
