Celebrate National Lighthouse Weekend with an evening dedicated to maritime history and delicious food! Join us for a Seafood Boil provided by Cape Fear Boil Company, featuring guest speaker and author Kevin Duffus. Kevin will delve into the fascinating story of the 1768 Charleston Lighthouse and its connection to Bald Head Island.

 

Kevin Duffus is a distinguished North Carolina author, documentary filmmaker, and research historian known for unraveling maritime mysteries. He has authored several acclaimed books, including "The 1768 Charleston Lighthouse—Finding the Light in the Fog of History" and "The Story of Cape Fear and Bald Head Island."


Enjoy drinks from Cook’s Mill Distillery, Flying Machine Brewing, and Codigo 1530 Tequila, who will be serving up their specialty drinks throughout the evening

Run for the Light
5k/10k/1 mile fun run
Sunday August 4th, 6 pm 


Run for the Light is a scenic run near coastal dunes and through the maritime forest on Bald Head Island, NC.

Enjoy the sweeping views while running at dusk toward the light of The Old Baldy Lighthouse. 

Make your participation in this race an entire day trip your whole family can enjoy by taking part in an afternoon festival celebrating National Lighthouse Day featuring games, crafts, music, bbq, beer and more! The festival will be taking place on the lighthouse grounds, the start and finishing site for The Run for the Light. 

This event is perfect to showcase one of North Carolina’s most beautiful beaches and historic sites– it will be one to mark off your bucket list! 

All proceeds from The Run for Light go towards the mission of The Old Baldy Foundation.
