Become a Junior Keeper
What does it take to keep a lighthouse shining?
Join us for an evening of exploration, creativity, and adventure at Old Baldy. Junior Keepers will discover the stories of lighthouse keepers, lifesavers, and island residents while completing fun activities designed just for them.
Participants will create a craft, explore the museum, take part in challenges inspired by the U.S. Life-Saving Service, and enjoy a special climb of North Carolina's oldest standing lighthouse. At the end of the evening, Junior Keepers will be recognized for their accomplishments and invited to take the Junior Keeper Pledge.
Every Junior Keeper will receive a keepsake to commemorate their adventure at Old Baldy.

Join the Adventure
Junior Keeper programs connect children and their families to the people, places, and stories that shaped Bald Head Island. Through hands-on crafts, games, and exploration, participants will discover what life was like for lighthouse keepers and lifesavers while making memories of their own.
Whether you're visiting the island for the first time or have been climbing Old Baldy for years, Junior Keepers offers a new way to experience one of North Carolina's most treasured historic sites.
