Wednesday, August 22nd -Mapping Bald Head's Development

Within the Old Baldy Foundation's archives is a collection of maps depicting the ecological and developmental changes wrought on the Smith Island Complex. August’s Historic Happy Hour will feature maps not typically on exhibition. The maps include Union and Confederate topographical maps, abandoned plot maps from the Palmetto Island development of the 1920s, and early locator maps produced by Carolina Cape Fear Corporation. Join us in exploring how Bald Head has changed (or remained the same) throughout the past four centuries!

The Old Baldy Foundation has many opportunities to support the future of the lighthouse as a sponsor! By being a sponsor, not only will you be directly helping The Old Baldy Foundation work to preserve Old Baldy as a beloved monument to the community and state of North Carolina, but you will receive exclusive access to special events and unique marketing opportunities!
